The Rose Ladies’ Series was created by former US Open winner and Olympic Gold Medallist Justin Rose, and his wife Kate Rose, to provide opportunities for female golfers to compete and showcase their talents at the highest level.

Our 300-acre estate provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable tournament that was fiercely contested by some of the best female golfers from around the world.

Four-time major champion Dame Laura Davies, two-time Solheim Cup player Becky Brewerton, Ladies European Tour winners Meghan MacLaren and Annabel Dimmock, as well as five-time Rose Ladies’ Series winner Gabriella Cowley all featured in the 78-strong field.

After 18 holes of exciting strokeplay, 22-year-old Amy Taylor produced a stunning eagle on the last hole to force a three-way play-off with clubhouse leaders Georgina Blackman and McCook, who both posted an impressive score of 4-under, 68.

Following in the footsteps of Tiger Woods, winner of the 2006 World Golf Championship, and Alex Noren, the 2016 British Masters champion – both held at The Grove – McCook showed nerves of steel to make an eagle on the first play-off hole to claim her first professional win in dramatic fashion.

We were delighted to welcome such talented golfers to our course and support the Rose Ladies’ Series in their mission to promote women’s golf at the highest level.

As part of our own commitment to women’s golf, last year we became a signatory of The R&A Women in Golf Charter and are proud to have seven female team members in our golf staff.

Three of our team members, Fenella, Rosana and Alice, had the opportunity to compete in the event – here’s what they had to say…

How was the experience of playing in the Rose Ladies Series at The Grove?

Alice: It was an incredible experience being able to play in my first-ever professional golf tournament as an amateur, made even better with it being at The Grove. It was really special having all of my team there to support and cheer me on, and it made the day one that I will never forget. I was able to do something outside my comfort zone that I would never normally have the opportunity to do, so I am grateful to The Grove for giving me the chance to play.

What is the best thing about working as part of the golf team at The Grove, alongside seven other female team members?

Fenella: Here at The Grove we really embody a ‘one team’ ethos – you can always rely on people supporting each other wherever possible throughout the golf team. As a female, it’s great to see other women within the team – from personal experience when visiting other clubs, it is usually a very male-dominated profession. I think our team is likely to encourage girls and women to take up the sport, particularly with two female coaches offering tuition.

What advice do you have for ladies and young girls looking to get into golf?

Rosana: I completely understand how golf can seem like an intimidating and challenging sport to new players. My advice would be to join girl group lesson such as Girls Golf Rocks. It’s a great way to start learning the game in a friendly and fun environment that allows girls to make friends and build confidence in themselves and their skills. We are so excited to launch our first Girls Golf Rocks course here at The Grove this summer.
