Be flexible with your workout – being too rigid in terms of the exercises you do can lead to boredom and prevent you from training consistently, so shake up your routine to keep things interesting!

Find an activity you enjoy, whether it’s hiking, sports, or weightlifting. You’re more likely to keep up with exercise if you’re enjoying it.

Create a routine and stick to it. It doesn’t matter if you miss a day, just pick up where you left off. The single most important thing is training consistently, there’s no way around it. The more you consistently work out, the more it becomes part of your normal routine, so working out becomes second nature and less like a chore.

Celebrate your progress, no matter how small. It’s quite encouraging seeing yourself become progressively stronger, faster and healthier.

With the amount of information and workout recommendations out there, it can feel overwhelming. So, make it easy for yourself and get a personal trainer. Having your own trainer means:

Taking time out to let your body recover after a workout is important too. It’s also the perfect excuse to enjoy a spa day or a massage!

A simple fitness hack is to walk. Aim to walk at least 30 minutes per day, and where possible, walk to the shops instead of driving. If you need to drive, park as far away as possible to ensure you’re getting in more steps than if you were to park closer. It all adds up!

If weight loss is your goal, consider your diet. I lost over 40kg through a low-starch diet high in fresh fruits and vegetables with lean meat and fish. I also make sure to eat five portions of fruit and one large salad, usually Greek, each day. To prevent unnecessary snacking I would recommend eating a higher volume of lower-calorie food as this will help you feel full for longer, and will allow you to get to your weight goal faster.

Don’t forget the importance of colourful food. Eating a variety is important because each one holds different micronutrients which are essential for our bodies to function well.
